Pricing and e-Publishing

If you’re visiting this site, I’m sure you’re well aware that e-book publishing has been revolutionizing the industry. It’s how I’m choosing to publish.  E-Publishing has made the industry infinitely more accessible to authors now, and drastically reduced the end cost to consumers.  It’s also (arguably) much more environmentally friendly – if you exclude making millions of iPads and e-readers that will be obsolete in three years using heavy metals from China.  But hey, that just lends credibility to my sci-fi dystopian vibe, right?

All those benefits aside, it’s drastically increased the complexity for small authors such as myself who are trying to break into the industry...

Siblings

Hey Everyone,

I’m in Atlanta today for my little sister’s graduation.  I can’t believe it’s already been four years!

This turn of events has created a dilemma for me, and I think all the older siblings will agree with me on this one: it’s not going to be so easy to be first in everything anymore.

This is a world shattering event.  At no point in my life have I not been able to A) be first or B) beat my sister at every game, event, etc.  As a side note:  she’ll claim that she has won at various challenges and competitions in the past.  Don’t believe her lies!

Now I’m faced with the very real possibility, especially now that I’m going back to school, that she might actually accomplish some things that I haven’t already!  Preposterous!  Inconcievable!

Summer Tour ’13

For those of you who don’t know, starting July 1st, not only am I launching Book 1 of The Phoenix Fallacy, but I’ll be starting a whole new life on the West Coast!  I’m moving out to Seattle to start a computer science program.

But… since the program doesn’t actually start until September, I’m taking a bit of a road trip in-between.  And when I say a bit of a road trip… I’m actually zig-zagging across the country.  I’ll be running up the East Coast, then heading West, Southwest, and finally, up along the California coast.

I’ll be posting news and updates from the trip right here, but for now, you’ll just get regular updates about how much prep is required!  Essentially this will boil down to a great deal of whining about long drives, but hopefully, some interesting stuff will happen in ...
