Release Week Arrives!

Hey folks,

I don’t know about you, but I’m really excited to be here this week!  It’s finally time.  Book III is upon us – in fact, it’s now available for pre-sale on Amazon!

It’s been a long journey to get to this point, and I know some of you have been waiting for a long time.  I really appreciate all of your patience, and your support.  I can’t wait to share the finale with you.

In the meantime, if you for some reason don’t have access to Book I, or want to share it, I’ve put it on sale for $1.99, and Book II will go on sale for the same price on Wednesday.  I’m also working on a few more things, so stay tuned for more updates.

See you soon!

Jon

A Release Date Approaches

Hey readers!

The appointed hour is approaching.  Your patience is finally going to pay off.  I’m happy to announce that the release date for The Phoenix Fallacy: Book 3 is going to be March 23rd, 2018.  The last touches are being put upon the edits, the cover is ready, and we are just about ready to launch.

In all fairness, it might have been a bit sooner, but I’m about to head out of town for work for a few weeks, and it will be a bit difficult to get everything together any quicker.  However, with the final touches on editing and formatting so close, and the cover ready to go, everything will probably be ready before the end of February.  The final few weeks will be all about letting readers like you know the release date.

It’s time to finish this trilogy...

Not yet wrapped up…

Happy Holidays Everyone!

It’s almost the end of 2017, so I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday and a few gifts tossed your way!  Sadly, the book can’t be tied up with a bow just yet.  It’s so close… but between the holidays and an unfortunate bug this past week, it’s not ready for presentation just yet.

To keep you in the loop, there is a small amount of regular editing, and then some general bookkeeping to take care of, like some formatting and font issues, before it’s ready to go.  I’ve been a bit slow the second half of December because of the above reasons, but the next few weeks should be high speed, low drag.  Don’t worry, though, I will definitely give you a heads up before release – I won’t just spring it on you!

In the meantime, for all of you preparing for 2018, start mak...

Thanks… for your patience.

Hey everyone,

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Turkey time is one of my favorite holidays of the year, and after several years of not making food nor heading home because of school, it was nice to have a chance to celebrate a bit this year.  While I didn’t get to head home, I did get the chance to relax, and finally made my first turkey!

I’ve still got a long way to go to create the ultimate party fowl, but at least I was able to produce more than just a…poultry attempt.

Sorry, those were terrible.  I just couldn’t resist.  Because right after Thanksgiving I went straight into edit mode.  And while I’ve put in a ton of hours, and I’ve made a lot of progress, this bird still isn’t cooked.  It’s close...

Terrifying Edits

Hey everyone and Happy Halloween!

It’s a combination of tricks and treats this month.

First the trick/bad news: I didn’t finish the edits this month.

I’m really sorry I couldn’t get it done, but last month I talked about coming in hot, and I just couldn’t make it.  The last few weeks have been filled with lots of good edits… which means that they are taking a long time.  The last few chapters I’ve been working on have taken quite a while.  I think they were good before, but they are much better now.  However, my previous 2 to 4 chapters a week has dropped to 1 to 2 a week.  Again, I think this is good in many ways, but it means I’m behind on my edits.  I’m hoping once I get through this section, the pace will resume, but no guarantees...

Moving at a good clip now

Hey everyone,

It’s time for another monthly update!  This one is a quick post, but I think it’s important to keep you in the loop and let you know that everything is going according to plan.

Things are still moving along, and I’m pleased with the edits I’ve been making.  I really think that the overall quality of the third book will reflect the time and effort it is taking to really dig into the details.  I’m evaluating every line of the text, and asking if it can do more, or if it should be axed.  More than a few have been in each category, and although this is taking a tremendous amount of time – I’m spending at least an hour and a half every day on it – I’m confident all of you will appreciate the end result...

From the ashes…

Hey guys,

As promised, here’s another quick update.  I’m actually working on edits RIGHT NOW!  Well, not right now, but I’m was working on it before this post and I’ll be doing some more right after.

In case you’ve ever wondered how the editing process works, I can tell you that it’s time consuming, and for me, at least, is divided into a few steps:

  1. Read the book (for the trillionth time) – note any hang ups (bad flow, grammer, confusing sequences, etc).  This usually takes two passes.  A normal speed pass (like I’m a regular reader) and a slow pass.  The regular pass gives me a sense of the flow in general, while the slow pass forces me to critically analyze what I just read and make sure my mind isn’t filling a detail or correcting a grammar mistake automatically...

A Phoenix Rises Up…

Hey guys,

I post way too infrequently nowadays, but I had some news for all of you dear readers who have stuck with me all this time.  I’ve graduated school, and I’m working on edits.  At least at the end of every month I’ll be posting a progress update to alert you on how Book 3 is progressing in its final edits.  In the meantime, I’ll be looking for an artist to do the cover of the third book.  I know some of you have waited waaaayyyyy too long, but thanks for sticking with me.  The finale is coming.

Way too long, but the end is in sight!

Hey everyone,

I know it has been forever and a day since I last posted… and I don’t really have any excuses other than school being all consuming.  Between the course load and the job search, the past year has been one long rollercoaster.  But the end is in sight… I’m finally in my final year, and after spending the summer interning at Amazon, I’ve got a job lined up to start after I graduate.  So things are going well.

Which might lead you to ask:  So where is Book 3?  The answer is – it’s coming, at just about 1/10 of the speed I expected.  Because of school, my editing has stalled significantly.  As many of you know – the final book is written.  It’s just not edited (which does take some time and rewrites from past experience)...
